About the Kakapo

The endearing Kākāpō is a nocturnal, flightless, ground dwelling parrot, endemic to New Zealand.  Once widespread, by the 1990's only 50 birds remained.  All Kākāpō now live on off-shore islands, as their population slowly recovers
